The architecture of Brigade Icon, right from
conceptualization
to
execution, was undertaken by the renowned global boutique
design studio - SOG Design.
They have worked on a plethora
of international projects, namely commercial hospitality and
mixed-use typology.

experience in award-winning companies, and a
serious passion for
design, Ricard Gonzalvo
brought
Brigade’s vision to life. Being a
visionary,
he led several
international design projects in the
mixed-use, commercial, hospitality and retail
sectors. He joined SOG
design after completing
successful
projects spanning Singapore,
India,
Vietnam, Indonesia, Papua New
Guinea, and Spain.

architect in Italy, he has led
high-profile
projects worldwide, earning

"It was interesting from the beginning when the Brigade came
with the brief; they wanted something
unique that hadn't been
done before in the
city of Chennai. However, at the same time,
they wanted to be linked to the heritage and
the culture of
Chennai. So, during our initial
visits, we really liked the contrast
between
the rich,
colourful buildings and the vegetation
surrounding it, and also the culture that was
inherited in the
streets. So, from then, we
started doing many iterations. We had
to take
on and consider some vast compliances, but, at
the same
time, some of the quantum that
Brigade had in mind or how to
integrate it
within the compact and quite elongated site.
It has its challenges, and even with the setbacks, we almost had
the footprint of what the building is
today. So, within those
constraints, we had to
massage the different volumes to create at
the
same time a holistic and cohesive image of the
development.
We accomplished this by creating
a dynamic and interesting
composition
elevation
that is inspired by the gemstones and the
richness of the historical buildings in
Chennai. Looking back in
retrospect, it has
been a very enjoyable process working together
with the Brigade group to create a very unique
building that will
stand out timelessly.
Brigade Icon is a timeless landmark that blends
historical elements with modern architectural
innovation. It is
envisioned to be a shining
beacon; one of a kind that represents the
identity for the city of Chennai."
